Why I Love Working For A Local Flower Farmer

Brenda Hayden, Owner of Aunt B’s Blossoms

The first time I meet Brenda was on a phone call in 2021. I remember exactly where I was when I took the call, how I felt, what I hoped would come from this connection. I knew nothing about Brenda, the owner of a local hand-cut flower farm in Ottawa, KS called “Aunt B’s Blossoms,” but I hoped I could work for her, to help her sell flowers.

Since a mutual friend connected us in 2021, we’ve grown to be great friends. I’ve worked for her by taking photos of her gorgeous farm and sunflower field (pictured below) and all the seasonal flowers she works tirelessly to cultivate. I’ve helped her with strategy on her website and social media, helped write email campaigns and launch special offerings.

I work with Brenda because I believe in what she’s doing. I believe in the lost art of working with your hands in this digital age. My goal in helping Brenda, and all other small agriculture businesses, is to increase their profits to keep them going online while they’re out in the field. Even though a lot of what I offer is digital marketing, sometimes I get to take photos of sunflower fields and greenhouses filled with every color of Lisianthus and Zinnia and varieties of fresh basil. Working with farmers brings me so much joy. -Especially when the farmer is such a wonderful, inspiring person like Brenda.

You can find Aunt B’s Blossoms on Instagram or view her website here. It’s been an absolute joy to be a part of her story and to document what she grows. I hope to help many more farmers do the same!
